Miva E-Commerce: Import Your Data and Images to a New Store

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

So you’ve created your new dev store and you’ve exported all your data from your old website; now it’s time to pull those exports back into Miva on your new store to get it up and running!  This video will cover how to go about importing the data you previously exported.

A key feature of this video is the order in which you import the data.  Importing in the correct order is going the most efficient way to ensure that your new store runs smoothly and operates as it should.

To begin with, you’re going to import the custom fields, image types, and some URI management structures. For the most part, this step will be as simple as copy and pasting the fields from your old site into your new site.

Importing your images, files, categories, and attribute templates next will set up the framework you need to get your existing products back into place smoothly. This leads into importing your products, attributes, related products, and customer/affiliate files, all of which are as simple as a few clicks of the mouse.  If your import does produce any errors, they will be listed for you in detail.

Price groups, coupons, gift certificates etc. will all be added back into the new site via the same method as your custom fields: copy and pasting to produce matching data on the new site.

Importing the data onto your new site in the correct order is key for this process to go smoothly and efficiently. If you need any assistance with any errors that may arise, or would like a hand importing the data, contact Glendale Designs and we will be happy to help!
