Question: The latest version of XP service pack portends a bar that disallows "Blocked Content" without a second viewer step requiring another button push to view "GOOGLE Ads" on any Site when using IE! What do you know about that?

Answer: XP doesn’t block anything – it’s simply a setting in Internet Explorer:

IN IE go to Tools – Pop-up Blocker and then turn it on or off.

The annoying bleep is for ActiveX controls and other scripts (like .js and so on) – to make it go away:

Go to Tools – Internet Options – Security Tab – select Custom Level

  • Disable automatic prompting for ActiveX controls
  • Download signed ActiveX controls – Enable
  • Download unsigned ActiveX controls – Disable
  • Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins – Enable

All other settings are of course up to you – just look through the settings and you will get an idea...

If you have disabled the Pop-up blocker in IE and still cannot see your ads, you probably have Norton Internet Security 2004 or 2005 or later installed.

Open NIS (double-click the icon in the system tray usually works fine)

  • Select Ad Blocking in 2004 and turn it off
  • In NIS 2005 -> Select Norton Anti Spam -> select Ad blocking and turn it off

There - that should fix the annoying bleep :)
